Our next exciting episode of the Women Behind BDx leads us to Acquilin John, BDx’s Digital Growth Strategist based out of India. As BDx continues to scale across Asia and the globe, Acquilin will play a vital role in our digital messaging across channels. From enhancing our brand’s social media presence to helping design our upcoming podcast (stay tuned for more details), Acquilin’s creativity, experience and expertise will set BDx apart from the rest.

Just shy of her three-month BDx work anniversary, Acquilin is already making her mark on the data center industry, and she’s always searching for new opportunities to help the company grow. Acquilin’s proudest moments may still be on the horizon, yet, everyone at BDx is already proud of her and all of her accomplishments thus far.

Someone once told me growth and comfort do not coexist. And I think it’s a really good thing to remember. -Jinni Rometty, CEO of IBM

With a love for gaming and a deep admiration for the women of Shaheen Bagh, Acquilin is a symbol of BDx’s strength, culture and growth. Without further ado, let’s get to know Acquilin, our digital marketing #BDxpert!

What makes BDx different from other places you’ve worked ?

Several different teams spread across Asia, Europe, and North America, working in tandem to give our customers the best possible experience. This type of distributed scale is something I haven’t experienced before.

What, in your eyes, sets BDx apart from its competition?

BDx is a new-age International Data Company (IDC) that isn’t afraid of trying new things to drive growth. As someone new to the industry, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m glad to have found the best of both worlds here – an organization hungry for growth while maintaining the high standards that any corporation would be envious of.

How would you describe the BDx culture?

Respectful, open and accessible. Every day, I am challenged to figure out new ways to solve problems.

Tell us about your typical day at BDx?

My days usually start with me replying to emails and checking on the health of all our digital and promotions. I follow this by organizing the rest of my day and working on all my regular tasks.

With my morning rituals out of the way, I move to the atypical parts of my day. My job requires me to be continuously updated, so I am always researching and looking for new ways to place BDx in the spotlight.

What is most challenging about being a woman in technology?

Finding other women in technology to work with, especially in managerial roles. I’m glad to work alongside a powerful female manager in tech—shout-out to my wonderful, supportive manager, Jennifer Spano.

What traits define you?

Empathy and Curiosity. Also, an impatience to know everything.

Who’s your favorite female inspiration?

My mum. She’s an amateur athlete who continues to win accolades and medals past the age of 50. Besides her, I have had several female role models to look up to, from Vera Rubin and Kalpana Chawla to Sacajawea, Savitribai Phule, Margaret Atwood and Arundhati Roy. Also, I find Hedy Lamarr, Shabana Azmi, Usha, and Dhutee Chand very inspirational.

Favorite technology?

I’m fascinated by the technology I don’t understand and can’t use yet. I’m currently doing a deep dive into practical aspects of quantum computing. So far, I’ve learned that all the stuff that pop science has taught me about quantum computing is hogwash.

Words of Wisdom.

“Relax, you’re doing fine!”-Acquilin John

BDx would like to thank Acquilin for her hard work, creativity and dedication. We are proud to have her leading our digital growth strategy efforts.
